We step out of our comfort zone often at Flytanium. With our latest concoction, we landed on a design that completely breaks the mold. Meet our upcoming chemical reaction, the Nobyl.

We've Gone Nuclear
Why did we do this? One, we thought it was cool. Two, because we can.
In Brandon's words, "I see and handle most new knives that are released and it’s easy to get bored from so many basic designs that are meant to appeal to everyone. I wanted to cause a nuclear meltdown in the industry with something polarizing and offensive."
You should have seen the first drafts. It looked like it spawned from the underworld. We tamed it but it's still very aggro with inspiration taken from mutations in radiation.
Originally called the Meltdown (like a nuclear reactor), we dug deeper for an even more unique name that allowed for solid storytelling.
Brandon told us, "I have always been fascinated by technology. The lengths humans are willing to go and the consequences of risks we take. I like to have something in my pocket that reminds me that in life you must take risks, even if you might get cut."
Brandon brought us the final design in December 2025 and our team helped bring it to life. It was completed and sent for production in early summer 2026.
No NPC Knives Here
Inspired by remnants left behind after catastrophe, clean lines in the handle are reminiscent of vintage brutalism adjacent with mutated aspects shown in the thumbhole. The chemical compound:
- Hand-finished blade with hollow and compound grinds
- Integral grade 5 titanium handle (handle is one piece)
- Distorted thumbhole that can fit a thumbstud
- Intersecting lines representing covalent bonds
- Premium stainless steel hardware
We love working with Brandon because he thinks like we do: "Flytanium isn’t just willing to do things differently, it’s basically their mission. The Nobyl is very different. When I approached Brian, Head of Product at Flytanium, he told me to sell him a story, not just a knife."
Brandon continued, "There are too many NPC designs out there. No soul, no story, no fun, just a tool. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s not what I do. Flytanium and I are on the same page."
This one will break the mold — we can't wait to see the Nobyl drop.
