At Flytanium, we tend to push boundaries. This shows in our marketing, but at our core it manifests in our product line. We do this because we've always had a vision to grow the everyday carry industry — and a huge part of that has been expanding the balisong space.
We want everyone to try balisongs! And the bar for entry is not as high as people think.
We offer a variety of balisongs, beginner level to advanced. If you're super new to the balisong world, check out our U.F.O. (Unidentified Flipping Object). If you've been around for a while, browse the other balisongs on our site.
But honestly for anyone and everyone, newbie or flipping pro, we recommend the Zenith Trainer 2.0. It gives you the true balisong feel without the chance of getting injured.
We had three main goals in mind when we started the Zenith Trainer project — we wanted to make a balisong trainer that:
- Had all the right features to make it a great flipper, with tunable bushings, a grippy handle texture, and great weight balance for flipping
- Was approachable for newcomers just entering balisong land while still being a great option for seasoned flippers
- And we wanted to offer it at an unbeatable price point
In the past, we made the Zenith style blade in both trainer and live blade options as an aftermarket blade for the Benchmade 51, and our customers really loved the shape, so we decided to use it for the Zenith Trainer project.
A good chunk of the design process was then focused around designing a set of handles that had superior grip, great balance, and matched the uniqueness of the Zenith blade.
We first launched the Zenith Trainer 1.0 in the summer of 2024. It was well received, even though it had a few drawbacks. Based on feedback from our customers, we made some key changes and later launched the Zenith Trainer 2.0 in February 2025.
The updates we made included:
- Switching from T8 to T10 pivots — to increase user-friendliness during tuning
- Squaring the bottoms of the handles — to improve the trainer's balance
- Adding a tactile "bite edge" indicator where the sharp side would be — to allow people to practice safely before upgrading to a live blade
With these upgrades to the Zenith Trainer, we landed on a competitive, pro-level balisong trainer at a nice price — with the Zenith Trainer 2.0.
